Outlook Express Message Rules

Here are the steps you can take to configure Oulook so that it moves {Spam?} and {Virus?} emails out of your Inbox, to somewhere else.

1. In Outlook Express, right click on your top level folder (Local Folders), and choose "New Folder"


2. Enter a name for the new folder you are about to create, and click OK


3. On the Tools menu, choose Message Rules, then Mail...


4. In the upper pane, tick "Where the Subject line contains specific words".
In the middle pane, tick "Move it to the specified folder".
In the lower pane, click "contains specific words".


5. The "Type Specific Words" window pops up.

Enter the text {Spam?} as shown, then click the Add button.

. With the "Type Specific Words" window still open, enter the text {Virus?} and click the Add button, then click the OK button.

 

7. The "Type Specific Words" window closes,
now in the lower pane click "specified"

 

8. Browse for the folder you created earler, click on it, and then click OK.

 

9. In the very bottom of the window, you can give this Rule a name. In this case we have named it "Spam Filter" (in section 4. Name of the rule). Click OK.

 

9. Click the OK button and you are done!
